MyLs: the foundation of South Australia’s licensing suite.
MyLs combines learner education and assessment in one interactive online journey, and it was built from the start as the foundation for the programmes that followed: myRiderSafe for motorcyclists and the world-first U Class Licence.
The moment that mattered
Manual licensing, and new risks on the way.
South Australia’s learner licensing was manual and centre-based, which slowed administration, limited access and offered little engagement for new drivers who learn best by doing. Specialist licensing for motorcycles and ultra high powered vehicles was also becoming a safety priority, so the state wanted one digital foundation it could scale.

- Understanding of road rules, attitudes and safer decisions
- A foundation strong enough for future specialist licences
- Better accessibility, completion and satisfaction
What we built
One foundation, three licences.
With Compono and the South Australian Government, we built MyLs as a scalable learning platform: interactive modules that blend instruction with scenario-based assessment, embedded testing so learners reach the theory test only after the modules that prepare them, and modern design on any device.
Because it was built as a foundation, myRiderSafe and the U Class Licence followed with less duplication and a consistent experience across licence types.

The learner course and test, with a vehicle safety module and hazard perception test. 176k+ enrolments, 94% completion.
myRiderSafe
Launched in December 2024 with reformed motorcycle licensing, so every rider arrives at practical training ready.

What changed
The first of three, and the reason for the next two.
MyLs impressed straight away with the quality of its design, the collaborative delivery and its learner outcomes, and the Government quickly prioritised motorcycle and U Class licensing as the next phases of the suite.
