Forward arming and refuelling, rehearsed in VR.
An immersive VR programme that recreates the Forward Arming and Refuelling Point, so Army Aviation ground crews can practise again and again before working with live aircraft.

The moment that mattered
Refuelling a helicopter near the front line.
FARP operations refuel and rearm helicopters close to operational zones. Classroom training doesn’t prepare ground crews for real conditions, and training with live helicopters is costly, risky and limited by asset availability.
What we built
The whole FARP, in a headset.
A VR programme that replicates the FARP environment, so trainees build confidence and accuracy under pressure and can practise on their own before they ever meet a live aircraft.
How it works
Adaptive scenarios
Trainees or facilitators choose the environment, weather, mechanical faults and time of day.
Wrist cards
Step-by-step guidance appears when the trainee turns their wrist, instead of fixed prompts.
Commercial headsets
Off-the-shelf hardware instead of fixed simulators, so updates are frequent and costs stay low.

Army Aviation stakeholders said the programme exceeded expectations, reaching a broader audience than they expected. Experienced personnel confirmed its accuracy and noted it reinforced steps often overlooked in real operations.Army Aviation

The platform phases
