Plan.Drive.Survive. Foundations: the better choice, planned ahead.

A drink driver reform course for Queenslanders returning from licence suspension. Grounded in behavioural science and personal reflection, it moves people from knowing the penalties to having a plan for the next time the choice comes up.

The moment that mattered

Penalties alone don’t change the next decision.

Drink driving remains one of Queensland’s most preventable causes of serious road trauma. Penalties and enforcement matter, but traditional reform programmes focused on compliance rather than lasting change. The Queensland Government wanted a pathway that would shape real decisions in high-risk moments.

What they needed

  • Fewer repeat offences through genuine behaviour change
  • A fully online, mobile-friendly pathway across Queensland
  • Queensland Government accessibility and UX standards
  • A fit with TMR’s digital services, including PrepL
  • Personal accountability in place of passive learning

What we built

A structured way to decide in advance.

With the Queensland Government and Compono, we built a course that guides each participant through a decision-making framework instead of a list of penalties. It builds self-awareness, foresight and practical planning, and every participant leaves with a plan of their own.

How it works

Plan to Survive

Participants name the consequences that would hit them hardest, such as their licence, their job, their insurance or an interlock, and build a plan to avoid another offence.

Better choices

They pick practical alternatives: a designated driver, public transport, staying the night, leaving the car at home, or not drinking when they plan to drive.

Barriers and backups

They name what could get in the way, like cost, peer pressure or convenience, and plan around it before it happens.

Built for the phone

Smartphone-first delivery, structured progression and feedback throughout, aligned with Queensland Government digital standards.

What changed

From awareness to a plan.

Plan.Drive.Survive. Foundations marks a shift from penalty-driven reform to behaviourally informed intervention, combining behavioural psychology, structured reflection and modern digital delivery.

  • A consistent, scalable reform pathway across Queensland
  • More accessible than face-to-face-only models, with less reliance on in-person delivery
  • Strong alignment with Queensland Government digital standards
  • A measurable target: 15% fewer repeat offenders within five years
